METRO is enhancing the transit experience for its customers through the implementation of a new digital signage network. These signs can be seen at transit centers, along the METRORapid Silver Line, and on the METRONext BOOST pilot projects. Over one-third of the transit centers have already been equipped with these signs, providing riders with real-time bus information, public service announcements, detour updates, stop closures, and special event alerts.

The installation of the digital signage network was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Hiram Clarke Transit Center in December. METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran expressed the Authority’s commitment to improving the customer experience and their dedication to innovation. The initiative is part of the METRONext Moving Forward Plan, which aims to invest in service and accessibility to enhance travel in the region.

The purchase of the digital signs was approved by METRO’s Board of Directors in September 2019, and since then, 158 signs have been installed. The high-definition LCD monitors are fully customizable and durable. Once all transit centers are equipped, installations will begin at Park & Ride facilities.

The implementation of the digital signage network demonstrates METRO’s dedication to improving communication with customers and providing them with a better transit experience.
