Big things are happening on our streets in the new year. Updated overhead street signs will begin appearing throughout the Hiram Clarke and Fort Bend Houston Communities. These signs will replace older ones that have become damaged, faded, or worn over time. It’s a practical but meaningful upgrade focused on improving safety, clarity, and the everyday experience of anyone traveling through our neighborhoods.

This project is a coordinated effort between the Hiram Clarke/Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 25), South Post Oak Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 9), and the Five Corners Improvement District. Together, through the Tri-Party partnership, these organizations are funding the replacement of 177 signs across their shared service areas. TIRZ 25 is contributing $125,348 to replace 64 of those signs within its boundaries.

Replacing street signs is a critical contributor to public safety and enhancing the commute for all modes of transportation. Overhead signs offer better visibility, especially at night or during poor weather. The goal is to help drivers, first responders, and pedestrians move through the area with greater confidence. Clear signage also supports emergency response times and reduces the risk of confusion or accidents at busy intersections.

As these signs begin to go up in early 2026, take a moment to notice the difference. The Hiram Clarke/Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority is committed to making sure even the basic elements of our infrastructure are well-maintained. The Tri-Party Task Force continues to show what’s possible when local leadership comes together with a common goal. Through collaboration, resources are maximized, and every dollar spent is focused on projects that improve daily life for residents.
