The Edison Art Center, part of the broader Edison Center revitalization initiative, is a transformative project designed to enhance public arts, cultural enrichment, and economic development in the Fort Bend-Houston community. Supported by Hiram Clarke/ Fort Bend-TIRZ #25, the center will offer a vibrant space for artistic expression, business growth, and community engagement.
At its heart is a 400-seat “Larry V. Green” main stage theater honoring the late District K Councilmember, whose contributions helped shape the community. The center will also feature a lobby gallery for local and emerging artists, state-of-the-art dance studios, creative workspaces, and an outdoor park with art installations celebrating African American heritage. Through investment in the arts and public spaces, the project aims to solidify Hiram Clarke/ Fort Bend’s identity as a regional cultural hub.

Economic Growth and Business Development
The revitalization effort will also drive local business growth. A $56.7 million investment will transform 12.5 acres with the following key additions:
- A business incubator and culinary co-op kitchen to support entrepreneurs.
- Affordable retail and office spaces for minority-owned businesses.
- A 5,300-square-foot healthcare clinic offering essential services.
- Community-driven public art to enhance neighborhood character.
TIRZ 25 committed $500,000 to demolish the vacant shopping center at 7100 W. Fuqua St., clearing the way for this transformational project.
Public Art and Cultural Legacy
Public art plays a central role, highlighting historical preservation and community storytelling. Key features include large murals and commissioned works celebrating African American heritage, a 12,000-square-foot outdoor performance space, and exhibitions honoring Black culture and artistic resilience. These installations aim to connect history with contemporary artistic expression.
A Lasting Community Impact
The Edison Art Center’s revitalization aligns with broader efforts to preserve Black cultural heritage while fostering economic growth. By investing in the arts and supporting local businesses, Hiram Clarke/Fort Bend is building a more inclusive and dynamic future.
