At the Hiram Clarke Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ 25 (HCFB), we have been actively working to enhance and revitalize the community for several years. With a primary focus on economic development and community enhancement, we have successfully completed numerous projects that have had a positive impact on the district and its residents.
One of the notable projects completed by HCFB is the District Gateway Improvement project done in collaboration with TIRZ 9, and the 5 Corners District. By enhancing the aesthetic appeal and improving public safety at five major intersections along US 90A, this project has transformed the gateways and created a welcoming entrance that instills a sense of pride in residents and visitors. With a focus on safety and functionality, the project incorporated innovative design elements, including eye-catching lighting schemes by Huit-Zollars, that have further enhanced the visual appeal of the district. Recognized as the 2023 Project of the Year by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association, the District Gateway Improvements project exemplifies a collaborative and holistic approach to community development that fosters a stronger and more vibrant neighborhood.
The Beltway Southwest Business Park is another project in our community that we’re proud of. This 1 million-square-foot master-planned business park has injected new momentum into the southside of the city. It’s become a hot zone for warehouse development, attracting businesses
like Texas Tamale Company, Metropolitan Furniture, Dräger and Red Wing Shoes all contributing to the local economy.
In addition, our organization funded the demolition of a vacant shopping center in Missouri City, to make room for a 32,000-square-foot art center that will engage the community in cultural arts, community services, and retail, with a goal of evolving into a nonprofit-run town center. With an expected annual visitor count of 80,000, The Edison Cultural Arts Center project founding team expects to leverage the multicultural arts community within TIRZ 25 to become a catalyst for community revitalization through the arts.
Furthermore, we have demonstrated our commitment to the arts and culture by supporting the Mini Murals project. This award-winning initiative is transforming traffic signal control cabinets into artistic canvases, adding color and creativity to the city’s streets. This inventive project has not only beautified the community but also provided local artists with a platform to showcase their talents.
One of our highly anticipated ongoing projects is the Fuqua Land Project. Our first land acquisition will transform a blighted site into a vibrant space that addresses long-standing community concerns. The project will revitalize the area, providing new opportunities for growth and progress. After demolishing the former MADCO gas station, we will now be looking to engage the community and local developers to identify the best use for the site
