To provide funding share for the “Fort Bend Houston: Edison Performing Arts Center” project, located at 7100 W Fuqua, Houston, TX. Public art and programs in both indoor and outdoor performance sites, alongside with affordable multifamily housing properties.
The Robert & Bertha Edison Cultural Arts Center (often referred to as the Edison Performing Arts Center) is a new development project in Fort Bend-Houston, Texas, currently in its final phases of construction.
The center is part of a 12.5-acre mixed-use revitalization at 7100 W. Fuqua Street, Missouri City, TX 77489. Phase 2 of the project, including the main cultural arts center building and a 400-seat theatre, is expected to be fully completed and operational by the end of 2026 or summer 2026.
The Afterschool Arts Academy is already open and running.
Project Details
The development, led by the Edison Arts Foundation, aims to transform a long-vacant shopping center site into a vibrant community hub.
- Main Theatre: The project will feature the 400-seat Larry V. Green Main Stage Theatre.
- Amenities: Planned facilities include a black box theater, dance studios, event spaces, a computer library, a community health clinic, and an outdoor green space.
- Mixed-Use: The center is part of a larger development that already includes the Edison Lofts, a 126-unit affordable housing community.
- Mission: The center’s mission is to provide cultural and educational programs for all ages, focusing on dance and theatre training while honoring Black cultural heritage.
