In late 2025, the Hiram Clarke Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority invited the community to share their perspectives through the Community Sentiment Survey. The survey results provide a clear, grounded look at how people are experiencing change across the area and where continued focus will help move the community forward.
Overall, the community expressed optimism, with an average rating of 3.28 out of 5 and more than half indicating they feel positive about the neighborhood’s future. That outlook is largely driven by confidence in Capital Improvement Projects, which received the highest ratings across all categories. Many residents acknowledge these investments are improving quality of life and contributing to long-term progress across the community.

At the same time, the survey clearly highlights where residents want to see changes. Concerns around roads, sidewalks, drainage, and flooding stood out as the most pressing issues, shaping where work is happening now. Across the area, sidewalk and curb repairs are underway in phases, bringing safer, more accessible pathways block by block. Larger efforts, including improvements along US 90A, a planned pedestrian bridge to safely connect across the corridor, and a new roadway linking Carved Rock Rd to Hillcroft Ave, are focused on making everyday movement easier and safer.

The survey also reflects a desire for a cleaner neighborhood environment. That work is taking shape through efforts like the Blight Removal and Beautification program, which is clearing unsafe and abandoned properties and preparing them for future use. The former MADCO gas station site on Fuqua is one example of that shift already in motion. At the same time, improvements like updated street signage and wayfinding are making it easier to navigate the area while reinforcing a stronger sense of place across the community.
The survey also highlighted the need for clearer and more consistent communication. While many respondents feel encouraged to participate, others shared that finding updates or staying informed on projects could be easier. With the launch of an updated website and expanded digital platforms, there are now more ways than ever to stay connected. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter and follow along on social media for real-time updates and opportunities to engage. As work continues across the area, staying informed is one of the simplest ways to stay involved in the community’s growth.
